It's In The Bag

Since I am unable to attend the Tents at Bryant Park this season due to my position at the bottom of the fashion caste system, I decided to switch gears and discuss the Fall Trends. Discussing the shows just makes me depressed and wanting to eat cupcakes. So to get myself out of my slump, I want to discuss one of my favorite things....BAGS!!!

See one thing I am is a bag lover, a bag LUVA!!! Say it like Rupaul, with a little emphasis on “VA”. I may not be able to afford the bags that appeal to my sweet tooth, but a girl can dream. I feel like sometimes all a woman needs in her life is beautiful bag, cute shoes and a coiffed ‘do and she’s ready to have Breakfast at Tiffany’s. I love handbags that are classic, and for some reason I don’t believe in “IT” bags pertaining to a particular season. And this Fall there are so many delicious bags that I would love to have in my sugarcane closet, but of course…can’t afford…let alone the “IT” bag of the season. I look at it this way, God with bless me with my Louis Vuitton and Gucci bags one day soon…I can just feel it in my bones. But for now…I’ll take what I can get.

But anywhoo, this season a hot trend amongst handbags is the top handle bag, it’s all about structure and sophistication. They add ladylike touch to any outfit you are wearing, whether it's jeans and a romantic blouse or a fitted suit and heels. I can only marvel and stare at those who live the glamorous life and can afford to have a Yves Saint Laurent or Prada treat slung over their shoulder. AND no I won’t result to Chinatown. Here are some examples of the Top Handle Bag. Learn it, Live it and Love it.

1. Bottega Veneta Basketwoven Leather Top Handle Bag $2,650.00 2. Prada Nappa Mordore Tote $1,896.00 3. Salvatore Ferragamo Large Frame Python Satchel $3,150.00 4. Yves Saint Laurent Volcano Tote $1,395.00 5. Marc Jacobs, Blake Shoulder Bag $995.00

If you’re like me and love pretty things and sometimes need your sweet fix of Prada, Gucci and Louis Vuitton but can't afford them, I suggest you do one or all of the following:

** Go to Saks and play the role of a potential buyer. (The associates may get a little upset once they figure out that you’re not buying a DAMN thing, so just say “I’m just looking”).

** Look for bags that fall in line with the trend and within your budget.

** Or if #2 doesn’t fit the bill, do what you gotta do to get what you want honey. (However, do not hold me accountable for you actions)

Have fun shopping for your Fall bag…I know I will!
